Clay,

I was in your position and I decided to take the leap and buy a SLR. If you want a point and shoot, I've seen canon powershot's do very well! Their small and compact so their basically a all in one camera thats easy to carry around. I brought my camera and was showing Jason, Tom, Mike and Jeff some pics. It was an older model SD630 (2-3 years old in technology world means its ancient) but now I've seen a fish tank setting in the newer models(atleast it shows a fish which most likely for tanks). But do your research on that. I still use mine for and love it since its so small. If you have any questions feel free....

Forget about all the point and shoot, you will never be able to get those nice macro shot ... go for the Rebel XTI or if you can afford it go for the Cannon 30D or the 40D :D

Great selection. I saw that it had the aquarium mode too! Best thing to do is go the best buy or circuit city and fiddle around with it. My suggestion is to bring down your tank and setup in the corner and tank some pics. If everything looks good make the purchase ha,ha,ha. You'll be happy with a powershot. I bought my like 2-3 years ago from Best Buy with no interest for 1 year so it worked out great. I think the aquarium setting is the best feature since you wanted a camera that took those kind of pics.
