is this a good camera to take pics of my tank with or not? what do you all reccomend??

A lot depends on what you want to do with the pics after you take them. If its just for the computer images to share I think its more than enough. You could blow them up fairly large with those pixels.
 
I just want to be able to take nice pictures showing off lots of details of my tank like my zoas for instance I want to be able to see the nice color and everything
 
I would look for a camera that offers RAW file format and a macro setting. I wouldnt worry to much about megapixels.
 
where do you want to view them? Unless your going to blow them up and print them, like the post above you don't need all the megapixels
