Can 2 6100's streams be coverted to 6200's?

Hi Roger,


I have 2 6100 streams and a multicontroller. And I'm about to upgrade to a 550 gal from a 225 gal tank. And wondered if it's possible to convert the 6100's to 6200's to get more flow from them. If so, where can I get the parts to do it?

You can't upgrade the 6100's or 6000's to 6200's. I remember reading this in a post when the 6200's were about to come out. It's in a thread somewhere on this forum.

You can actually but it costs about $200. I would need to look it up but I think it is generally cheaper to sell what you have and buy a 6200.

I could have sworn I read that when I was researching the 6200's the other day. Were they originially not supposed to be able to be upgraded?

Yeah thats just too expensive to upgrade them. What about if I keep the 2 6100 and just buy 1 6200 will that be enough flow for a 550 sps tank.
You know how it goes when you try to sell something used, people expect to get them dirt cheap. And they cost too much to give them away. They are close to 8 mos old and in great condition if I were to offer them FS what would be a good price?

You can but you have to change quite a few parts and it isn't practical. It isn't like going from a 6000-6100.

I would think $250 is fair. What are the dimensions of a 550.
