can a peacock eat itself to death?

i fed my paecock a crawfish yesterday, which i have done a couple times in the past. He munched on it last night and some today, when i got home from work tonight i was going to clean out the remains of the crawfish and noticed that the peacock was dead, he was acting normal before i went to work..
Any ideas?

I hated losing my peacock, especially since it was my 7 year olds favorite animal. He will be upset in the morning when he gets up.

Maybe the crayfish rotted and fouled the water. I have heard that peacocks will kill more than they can eat, hiding the carcasses which then rot and pollute the water.

I dont know if that could be it or not. at the time, he was being held in a large kritter keeper till i got my other tank setup, but that kritter keeper is inside a 24 gallon tank that is plumbed into my 100 gallon reef.
I am wondering if there wasnt enough flow inside the kritter keeper to keep the crawfish from fouling that water.

I would lay money that it was a combination of low flow and ammonia. Those are a lethal combination for an O. scyllarus.
