I'm thinking it's a hydroid... but no longer attached to the glass?
I've got dozens attached to the glass in the fuge.. and I'm not sure what the next step in there life style may be.. Maybe free swimming?

Most hydroids go from affixed to drifting once they're matured to a specific point. This appears to be such a case.

And its not something to be concerned with...
Its very common to see them in new tanks,etc...

My tank has been up for about a year now.. I just recently started getting the hydroids again on the glass...

But I've always wondered where they went after they let go of the glass...

I have recently started feeding the tank brine shrimp cysts once a week... I wonder if there are hydroid eggs mixed in

I was just looking in my fuge..and swimming all through the cheato are hundreds of those Lil buggers... and some that are bigger..and look a little differant..

And I've discovered (probably already a known fact)
But they swim where they want to... not just randomly.. I seen a bigger one just at the surface..not moving..so I poked at it with my baster and it swam down...so I went below it and poked it..and it swam up and away..
