Dear All,

I am dosing full zeovit regiment , as of now it's my 2 months since I started with Zeovit system , as of now I dose every other day zeobak (4 drops) , sponge power (4 drops) and start 3 (0.80 ml) every day.

So sad and shock my tank was infected with Dinos, I suspect this came in with the use of NSW.

I have read all over the thread but not so Much really understood what is the best option, I think the below 2 things is possible to try?;

1) turn off the lights for 5 days , will this be okay for the SPS and LPS in my tank ?

2) soaked the infected one with fresh RODI water for 10 sec.? Is this okay for my Acros and LPS too?

Please give me your best advise and corrected me if above mentioned ways is not right .

Definitely looks like dinoflagellates. I can say from personal experience that you should take action against it now. It's hard to say which approach you should take but it is highly recommended that you use a "multi pronged" method to rid them. Read through the thread linked above for a little while and try to make an educated decision.

I read a lot of posts where the lights out method only worked temporarily and it might be tough on sps.

I dosed microbacter 7 to get rid of the dinos and I used chemipure blue with frequent water changes to get rid of the cyano. I suspect that dosing microbacter 7 was like adding a carbon source which helped with the dinos but might have fueled the cyano. Water changes will fuel dinos so having both dinos and cyano is tough to beat. I just kept at it and the dinos disappeared first and then the cyano. Adding the chemipure blue lightened up my sps. It took about 5-6 months on a new tank started with dry rock to beat all these things so i'm not 100% sure if it was the above that beat it or if it was just time.

Here's a start. Refer to their sizing charts. It all depends on tank size and flow rates through the unit.

I'm using the 25 watt on my 80 gal (100 gal total water ~375 Liter) tank.

The bigger the UV, the faster you can run the flow through it and get results. I have the twist flow 36W on a 660gal system. I had to run the flow very slow ~ 200gph but it eventually worked.

So probably any size UV could work but you'll get faster results with more power.

What we have available here in Taiwan are mostly product made from China, I wonder if anyone in the U.S. Ever have your UV products also china made? How is the quality and stability plus safety issue? I understand that UV lights should be taken very carefully as any exposure will causing some health issue (correct me if I was wrong here ).

More over the UV available here are mostly hang on , I understand the best and effective way is to have the UV apparatus hook up with the return pump pipe or the flows outlet to make sure all water passing through are thoroughly cleaned or sterilize 100% but for those that like a reactor water passing thru or suck in by a submersible pump may not covered the whole tank water at the end? Here are some available UV here in Taiwan;

Just went lights out since yesterday , kind of worry if my SPS and LPS can tolerate 3 days light out.

I just blast and suck some hair like algae , since I don't have massive Dino or cyano over the rocks.

I wonder with lights out and still not having any UV equipment yet will the result be the same ?

corals can survive for many days without light. 3 days or even a week won't kill a coral unless it's very sick already.

lights out helps keep the dinos floating in the water so they can be killed by the UV.

UV is safe if used properly. Don't turn on unless it's in the sealed envelope.

Make sure the flow is slow and any UV will work... some may be harder to clean or get fouled up faster, but they'll all work fine at the start.

Not necessarily. I used it continuously for a few months, then just at night.

Others only run it for a few weeks at night until the system is healthy, then stop and only reuse if it returns.
