I bought this listed as "blasto" for a decent price. It looks like maybe micro or acan. Or maybe something similar?
Can anyone tell me what it is? Each head is no larger than a nickle.
Here's a couple of bad pics:

Don't know what it is...but your snowflakes looking sweet. :D

Thanks, I love 'em. Great personalities. I can't hardly get a pic without one of them being right there. Camera hogs.
How are your two guy's doing? Still lost in the big tank? LOL.

Wow I am really jealous! My eyes aren't too keen on telling a micro and an acan apart unless I can see the two next to each other for size etc but I'd also say its in one of those families- not a blasto. Blastos are more er.. fluffy? around the edges..

What a sweet coral!

It definately doesn't look like a blasto to me, I would agree they are more fluffier, the edges of mine actually move with the water flow.
Also, from what I can tell most blasto's have a sort of base or stalk, and the ones in your pic look to be almost encrusting, or growing in a matt over the rock.

Looking up pic of acans, it appears acans have more depth to the polyp than the ones in your pic. If you check out justphish dot com they have some pics of micro's and acans on the same page you can compare. Hope that helps a little bit.

Have you considered checking the different Favia's? Just an idea.

Micromussa are acanthastrea. I think you want to know if they are lordhowensis or micromussa... it depends on how big they get. Judging from the snail, I say micros. You may want to ask in the LPS forum.

They're doing well. Still haven't found a spot to settle down in but seem to enjoy the currents from the Vortechs.

Well Marcye just corrected me...sorry for my mistake. Micromussa are in the mussidae family in the genus micromussa, blastomussa are in the mussidae family in the genus blastomussa:

And also what we commonly refer to as 'acans'..which are usually lordhowensis are in the mussidae family in the genus acanthastrea.
