Can anything survive drying for 6wks?

I had a 100% fish loss due to a an outbreak of what was probably every known disease, ever to affect a closed aquatic system. I have a couple of contaminated 50 gallon trashcans that held infected water about 6 weeks ago, and have been completely dry for that time. Can anything infective survive desiccation for that amount of time, or do I need to bleach the insides of both cans before I use them to hold system water again?

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Wow...sorry for your fish loss....if it were me I would just throw out the contaminated containers and buy brand new ones...why take the chance.

Costia isn't killed off by drying and there are likely other.
If you want to be on the safe side you should soak everything in bleach, then neutralize the bleach and finally dry it.
