Can Bacteria Bloom Kill off Corals?

Using a uv to reduce a persistent bacterial bloom is helpful. Ongoing use isn't helpful and may unduly reduce helpful planktonic microbiota,IMO.

There really is no need to dose microbacter or any other commericial bacterial concoction, btw. Keep the aeration up. The bacteria take a bunch of oxygen.

Are you sure it's bacteria ? Sounds like it but it may be something else. Any caulerpa algae in use?

Thats what I always heard about the UV, it would take away too much and leave the system to sterile. No Caulerpa Algae in use... I agree to a certain extent that it is not a bacteria bloom. I have had them in the past and it was nothing like this. I am wondering if something was dying off and could have caused this... but like I said my parameters were all within range.

Water is about 90% clear and I was able to save a small part of my Fiji Leather. The other one looks like its a gonner...
