Can Blue legged hermits unbury themselves?

I think I might have buried a hermit or two doing a tank switch(trying to get things working better with what I've got). Can they dig themselves out? I've got 1-3" of aragonite.

From fairly shallow, probably. From very deep, not so easy. You might take a chopstick (unused) and move it gently through the sand bed, which might turn it up.
