can clams get too much light?

I have a crocea clam that has been down on the sandbed for the past few months. It's foot was attached to a rock behind it. Recently it detached it's foot for some reason. The only place that i can find where it would be more stable and not in the sand bed, is high up in my tank. I have 2 150 watt mh's and 4t5 actinics. Would that be too much light? Also what should I do so that it doesn't detach again?

He might of detached due to not enough light or he just didnt like where you placed him because of water flow etc. Once he is in a spot he likes, they will not budge.

Croceas like to be in the rockwork anyway so now you can move it to where its supposed to be. They are also the most light demanding of clams and your 2 x 150's are not too much light. Not even close for a Crocea.

Put him as high up as you can. I keep my croceas about 8-10" below 250's and they still reach for light.
