Hi all. I have a percula clown about 2 inches long.
I am wondering if the flow in my tank is too much for it. My tank is a 32 gallon Finnex M Tank. My skimmer powerhead is rated at 211 gph and my filtration powerhead is rated at 343 gph...I also have a power head inside the tank on the oposite corner set to run (adjustable) at about 100 gph.
Is this too much flow???

My clown looks like it might be developing ick. I can see some strange marks on the white stripe closest to her head and I am not sure if this might be the beginings of ick or just a scratch or something.

My water parameters are good and I have had the clown for about a week.

Please help.
Thanks!!!

Did you quarantine the clown? It could be that the clown had ick when you bought it and is now showing symptoms. And that doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t sound like too much flow.

Can a clown fish become stressed out with the flow I have listed?
How much flow is everyone else runing?
Any input would be great!

No I didnt quarantine. I just acclimated her and put her in. She looked very good when I bought her and I didnt have anything to quarantine her in. Should I remove her?

I would remove and QT for 2 weeks. the stress from moving has most likely caused the outbreak of ich. as for the water flow as long as it is not getting blown around I would say u are ok. but I would definitely QT with hypo salinitu for 2 weeks.

Do what he says ^.

I don't think flow will cause that. My clown is much smaller, around 1" and swims around in a 75g with a tunze wavebox and 6100. She's very healthy and lively.

My two percula clowns in my 75 seem to really enjoy the flow. My main puts out about 750 gph on a OM and i have two MJ 1200 on a wavemaker. They seem to love shooting across the tank when they get caught in a wave stream. I'm even thinking about adding two more MJ 1200s.

Just to ease your thoughts on the flow.

I have my SEIO M1100 (rated at 1100GPH) on full speed going through the tank (slightly less than 20 gallons) and my two little friends dont seem to mind. Which is a bit more of a turnover than you have. So I dont think it could be that.

I'm not one for disease and such. But post a picture if you can. It might help out some of the other members.

*edit for english XD
