i have a brain on the sand and noticed that some of its skin is receeding near the bottom, can it be that i buried it too deep in the sand? i also noticed the place i put it on has a lot of detrius could this be the problem? and it also doesnt inflate itself as big as it use to be.all my other corals are doing good its just the brain showing some problems. thanks

I doubt it. I have seen many a detritus-rich tank with thriving brain corals. However, sand on exposed tissue will cause recession. Be sure only bare skeleton is in the sand.

i have a open brain that I put on the sand and its edge was buried in the sand. I didnt notice it right away and the edge died off...its growing back now.

this is weird but when i turned on my lights today i saw bristle worms come out of the brain. the flesh on top was completely gone. i guess it was dying n the bristle worms sensed it. cause bristle worms dont usally attack corals right? well i know that there are some that does but im pretty sure these are the common bristles in my tank. *i hope*

Anything that can be an irritant can contribute. If buried too deep in sand will cause die off to the portion if left long. Most times detritus itself will not be much of an irritant.

Sand on the flesh will cause recession. I had a huge elegance coral, that was 10" across and was thriving. One evening after lights out a powerhead tilted, blowing sand over the elegance. The sand blow for the entire day until about 4pm, half was receeded by hte time I discovered the problem. It never recovered and it perished. I was sick
