can i ad a clown tang to my 4 other tangs?

i have a 260 gallon tank with one each, kole tang, sailfin tang, naso tang, and a foxface. they are all a bit bigger except the Kole tang which is about the same size. these fish have all been together for about 4 years.

is my tank big enough? is any tank big enough?

It might be OK in a tank that size, but it might go ballistic on everything you have. Even if that doesn't happen, it could upset the balance between the other fish and start a war. If it were my tank, and everything is getting along well, I wouldn't risk it.

Clown tangs have a very bad reputation because they are known to be a very aggressive species. But of course exceptions exist.

We have a 110 gal tank in which there was first a pretty territorial scopas tang, the second added was a yellow tang bigger and nicer than the scopas. The scopas was not happy at first, but everything went relatively well. Then we added a sailfin. First the two other tangs and the two angels seemed to have very nasty intentions, but again it went well (I think that what saved the little sailfin is that it stayed calm and didn't swim everywhere to hide). And finally a clown tang, surprisingly with no problem at all . Everything is going well since then. The clown tang is known to become more and more aggressive when maturing, but let's see...

I don't mean that you will have no problems, but that we can be sure of nothing. IMHO I think you could make a try

i wouldn't add a clown tang but you could probably add a different type of tang to that mix.. and the foxface is not in the tang family.. blue tang , powder bluetang yellow or purple just make sure its bigger then your salfin or kole tang when u add it naso's are pretty much calm and peaceful and shouldn't pose any threat to your new addition.
