Guys,
I have a single False Pecula in my 55... he came over from a smaller tank in April of this year that crashed which he had a mated pair. He has been alone for 6 months now... Can I add another Pec to pair up??

Yes, probably. They will probably fight at first to establish dominance. There is a slight chance one may kill the other. I don't feel that would be the case, given there is only one in the tank at this time.

Everyone will probably give a different opinion, but anything can happen. Individual fish can vary. With ocellaris I think you have the best chance of making a pair. They can often be kept in greater numbers too. Although the more you have, the more likely the lower ones in the hierarchy may be killed off. And if the primary pair decide to mate that can also cause them to kill off the adolescents.

You have to make sure that the one you add is not a female, which means that you need to get a male or juvenile. Two females in the same tank will be trouble.

Your best bet is getting one that is smaller. If the one you have is a male, then a female would be ok. But I don't know how to tell the difference between male and female when only an individual is present. The clown you have may not have sexed yet if it is still young. Given that you had it for six months it probably has.

I think most TR clowns are too young to have developed into a sex, so it shouldn't be a problem. Any that you purchase should still be adolescents and will not be a problem for the resident clown.

Got a smaller one. Well... Amazing.. They went right together and paired up... No problems... the older bigger one is already doing the jig, and shaking :)
