Can I Add This Fish?

I've got a 75g reef with (1) Foxface, (1) Scopas Tang, (1) jawfish,
(1) Candycane Goby. I'm thinking that since the jawfish and goby barely take up any bioload that I can add one more fish. I have a feeling I'm going to get flamed here, but here is my question. I really want to add a Convict Tang. My theory here is that he is a completely different shape than my Scopas and my Scopas is actually very friendly with the foxface. Do you think I'm asking for trouble? If not the Convict, would a flame angel be a problem
with this group? I'm afraid he may be more aggressive than I want though.

a 75 gallon is the minimum tank size for a Convict tang. It is kind of the same shape as a scopas tang, so you may have issues with them together.

A flane angel is kind of a hit and miss in a reef. Some may pick at corals, others may not...

Hmmm,

I don't think I'd consider them the same body type. I convict is a surgeonfish style where the scopas is like the yellow tang.

gregp is correct in that the body styles are different. Being in different genera, the scopas and convict tang have Acanthurus and Zebrasoma body styles, respectively. Convicts are very active shoalers that need A LOT of algae (and some more room than a 75 can provide) as well as the benthic inverts that associate with it. In fact, they go across reefs nearly wiping out any real visible overgrowth, competing heavily with territorial tang species (i.e. A. leucosternon). Unfortunately, their needs are not always met in the home aquarium.

Now my Foxface is not much of a swimmer (except when I come home and he sees me and knows he's getting fed) and the Scopas is more of a grazer and picker. Obviously my jawfish and goby take up no space in my tank, so I think the Convict would have plenty of swimming space, no? I'm really thinking this would be ok to add him, but I'm looking for someone to tell me I'm crazy and am killing my bioload or that I'm not crazy. ;)

greatlink- I will put it on my favorites- has anyone ordered online from this company. Good/bad experience?

IMO the foxface and scopas get too big for a 75 and I would think the scopas would not be happy with a new tang. Convicts are pretty wimpy for tangs and would probably take a real beating. A flame angel would be a better choice.

I hear nothing but good things about marine center. I'm about to place my first order with them as soon as some fish become available.
