Can I create a "rock bed" in the sand for a crocea?

I have a spot in my sand bed for a clam.
I have a 3" crocea that I'd like to put there. I know that crocea like rock, so I was wondering if I could take a small peice of LR, and break it into gravel, and create a "gravel bed" for the clam?

Does this make any sense?

I do that with my clams. Bury a flat rock in the sand and put the clam on. Make for easy transport later and makes the crocea and maximas happier to attach.

Heard of people using tile, but that would not look too good if you go to move them up into the rockwork.

I took some tile smeared it with epoxy and rolled it in substrate/rubble. Besides being flat it looks perfectly at home in the tank.
