Can i do this safely?

I was wanting to find out for sure if its safe to cut off the shaft of my giant toad stool mushroom hes at least 18" long and i need to cut him shorter to fit in my new soft coral system very soon

If you really wanted to I'm almost absolutely positive putting a rubber band semi tight around the base wherever you want to shorten it up at and it will be fine
