Looks like palythoas of sorts which are harmless, but will spread. Unless your talking about the purple corralane algae growing in the backround.

no just the polyps ... can these things be a problem over time?

not palythoas, they are small anenomes. Time to kalk em all.

looks like a Rhodactis sp. harmless

They are small anemones that can spread very quickly, taking over zoanthid colonies and stinging sps. I would get rid of them while you still can. If they are isolated on one rock, I would take out the whole rock.

well taking out the rock isnt an option ... there are other corals attached to that same rock ... so i will just have to kalk them i guess ... are we all sure that is what these are before i go to all the trouble of eradicating them
