Can I keep a clam?

I am interested in keeping a clam in my tank. I was thinking about starting with a squamosa. My tank is 300 gallons and I have 576W T5 lighting. I have read that squamosa tend to prefer the subtrate. In a 30" tank is this too far away? Can I get another species that could be placed closer to the surface?

Thanks for your help.

You should be just fine with that. Just make sure that your waterparameters are good and watch your fish. You have a few questionable inhabitants listed.

Thanks for the replies. A couple months ago, I decided to try and lessen my workload by getting rid of most of my inhabitants. I sold off everything but the damsels, chromis, LMB, sailfin tang and I acquired a scribbled rabbitfish. I assume that they should be pretty much OK.

One more thing. Is there a good online resource for purchasing clams? I am specifically looking for one that is a little larger.
