i have a 12 gal aquapod deluxe it has 2 27watt lights. i was wondering if this was enough light for them. i would love to keep one but if i can't i won't.

I'm not a clam expert, but..... near the top of this page is a sticky on lighting requirements for clams. It may answer your question?

thanks they keep talking about metal halides so i'm going to say i can't. that's to bad but not going to kill one trying to make it work.

I'm not an expert either, but I've learned a few things. Height of the taqnk is the main concern, and since your tanks is so small, I think you could keep at least a dersa, but it probably will eventually get to big for the system. Also, not just the wattage, but the type of bulb makes a difference. T5's seem to be the flourescent bulb for clams. Maybe Skinz78 can drop in and enlighten us, because he really is an expert.

LOL I'm no expert, just done alot of reading. IMO no you shouldn't try it. Yes a derasa would work but it would outgrow your tank in months. plus in a small tank it is gonna be very hard to keep up on your water params.
