Can I keep my tank background

I have a 3D structured background in my freshwater tank and would like to keep it when I convert the tank to marine. Is this ok? The background has algae growing on it which I assume the saltwater will kill off.

depends on what its made of.

go over to garf (.com or .org, I forget) and they go through things that can be in saltwater tanks, and is really helpful for DIY stuff
