would i be able to keep him alive?

If you get a relatively small species and it already feeds on frozen Mysis, Yes. But make sure any tankmates it has are peaceful.

Corythoichthys flavofasciatus,
Corythoichthys haematopterus, if you get these guys already feeding,

Doryrhampus excisus is a nice small species, Syngnathus scovelli is a good choice also.

Most pipes like being in pairs.

Make sure they are eating something you could provide, like enriched brine Shrimp, or frozen mysis shrimp.

You could attach a refugium to it, with macro-algae like Chaetomorpha, and seed it with pods. Additionally, you could make a pile of crushed coral in one side of the tank where the pods can hide once they're in the tank and also have a small breeding population in your tank.

but i don't have enoff room for a refrigium so if i was to put som crushed coarl in a pile in the tank would that held at all?
