Can I put yellow tang in sump?

We have a 300 Gallon tank and I let the LFS talk me into three yellow tangs. Not a whole lot of experience in the hobby so I deferred to her experience. I have one tang who is trying to kill the other two. All I have right now is the DT. I don't have a separate QT.

Question: I have a 75 gallon sump (not much light down there) but I was thinking about putting the aggressor down there for a few days and then reintroducing.

He's done serious damage to the fins of the other tangs and I'd like to save all three if possible.

Any other solutions are welcome. We have already tried rearranging the aquascaping.

Any other choice besides getting rid of one or two of the tangs? LFS would take them back but not provide credit.

I wouldn't, it seems pretty risky. better chance of the tang jumping plus he could damage or be damaged by equipmet like the skimmer or return. He could also be harmed by any chemicals put directly into the sump.

Try a mirror, I was told that if you have a bully fish to put a mirror on the tank glass. when the tangs see their reflection they'll attack. when all three attack they'll form a group.

Ive never did it but worth a try

you can roll the dice with removing him, then re-adding, but chances are good he will still be a jerk.

what i can tell you for sure though, is that you need to find a different LFS. bad advice given, then they won't help you out? i'd take my business elsewhere.

How much rock do you have in the tank. More hiding places sometimes helps. I have 6 tangs in my 265. They will sometimes dance with each other but they never cause injuries. But yes I only have one if each tang. I wouldn't try 3 of 1 unless they where babies. I would advise using thst lfs especially since they don't give you s credit on a fish you shouldn't have bought in first place. How long has the 3 been in the tank

I have 3 Yellows in 325g for more than 4 months, and 2 don't get along with the third. He is confined to a corner and uses the Mamma Clown for protection. He has razor cut on his buddy from being beating up. Unfortunately, it would be impossible to catch any fishes in my tank.

If you can catch that fish, take it back to the store. The sump is not only too small, but a cruel place for a fish to live in.
