Can I Save This Coral?

I got this coral from a LFS for free. It's my first LPS Coral and I'd love to try to save it.

I doubt it from personal experience. Once mine hit that point - it was gone. No hard rules in this hobby tho so good luck! You never know.

THere COULD be some life in it. Looks euphyllia-ish. Set your alk at 8.3, cal at 420, nitrate at 5, and your mg at 1300, keep it where you've got it, and good luck to you. Wait a good 6 weeks to declare it dead: they may bud from skeleton sideways if it's hammer or torch.

It looks like there's brown jelly in the centers. If that's the case i would get it out of your tank. I believe it can spread to cuts and tears on other LPS corals..

I'd say leave it. Only time will tell if it'll make it or not but it can't hurt to let it lie.

Time has told! The mouths were intact, so I began to feed them when they've opened. It's beginning to develop a nice green coloration
