Can I see your floating canopies?

Now I know particularly I've seen SPS tanks in this forum with floating canopies or something similar. I am going to build a floating canopy for my upgraded tank in the future. I'd love to see some of other RC member's floating canopies. So if you have pictures will you please post?

I think it turned out well considering I made everthing down to tha hanging arms myself. :)

Okay men. Sorry for my wrong terms I used. I've heard them called "floating" canopies. I've seen some with no chains and they are attached to the back of the aquarium stands, then yes I have seen the ones with chains/wires. I'm really looking for ones with some type of woodwork involved as yes, I am a woman and I am picky!!!! =) Chrisrush how does it stay on your aquarium? I don't see it hanging, so I am assuming it might be connected to your aquarium stand. Thank you everyone for your responses. Yes, Chrisrush got it right. No wires. ;-) If wires are the only possible way though, i'd like to see others. Thank you all. Will be looking forward to more pictures!!!!

I have a 9" black plastic rim on my bowfront, and my light kit just sits on it, easy to lift off or shove back a bit for cleaning/maintenance. Rim sits down atop and over the tank rim.

You have a picture Sk8r? Hey Dmitry i like that. It looks nice. =) How do you like those reflectors? I was going to go with the lumenarcs

I've seen more like Chrisrush's though. I'd like to see some others. How do the open top canopies help with heat? That is why I wanted to do it.

With my closed canopy I couldn't control the temp of the tank, my chiller was running constantly almost non stop, with open tank in very hot days temp never go over 80F mostly it stable at 79F, and after all I took chiller off line, I don’t use it anymore.

Recetly upgrade to SE Lumenmax Elite refectors. I don't really like the two color schems of the Elite itself. Since its profile is smaller in terms of height, compare to other high end reflector so I built my own hanging box. The elite just sit inside the box. 5" high box will hide the entire reflector. I also add a PC light in the middle to add the sun rise and set effect.

Thanks, MarineGirl.
Yap, the four walls and both bottom end pieces are 1/4" thick black acrylic. Other then that, rest are 3/16" thick clear arcylic. I have 1" wide around the bottom to create ledge to hold the reflectors. Both refelctors are not fix to the box, they just sit on top of clear ledge, it is very easy to remove from top. I add a clear center brace to increase its rigidity, also that space let me put a PC light in the middle. I run MH only, PC just run 30 min. before and after MH.
I provide all the dimensions and local plastic shop cut each piece to the spec for me, I just glue them together. Overall canopy box cost is $65.
