You can use ceramic magnets, not neodymium magnets. Because neodymium magnets are too strong

www.kjmagnetics.com for me tyvm. I use plastic coated neodymium. The 3/4 diameter x 3/8 thick with 10ish pounds of pull work great. Some have been in my tank for over 5 years with no problems whatsoever.
