Can I utilize my overflow for something (Rock / Macroalgae)

I have a STD 90 AGA with Mega Overflow..

Seems that I should be able to utilize the Mega Overflow space for something good..

Can I get away with putting Chaeto Macroalgae in there??

Or how about live rock??

Or will doing any of that just be a pain? and trap waste?

trap, but if you have some strong lights near the overflow you could put a mangrove there. just be careful with the roots

no reason why not but it does become a detritus trap

I promoted mine as a algea scrubber and fuge (tons of pods, sponges, dusters, coralmorphs etc) and got enjoymnet out of watching stuff in the over flow gro just as much as the main display and refugium/sump. I took lots of pictures that I would be happy to share if you want to see them
