Can it be done?

Hi!!

I was wondering if I could keep SPS and other hard corals in a 30L. Lighting would consist of a 150w Nova Extreme 14K pendant along with 2 36" T5HO Actinic Bulbs? Thanks!

Yes it can be done and rather nicely as well. If it is a stand alone tank, you will just have to keep up with everything a lot closer than you would with a larger system. The smaller the water volume. the quicker params can run off the charts.

The light will be fine. Flow needs to be a concern for SPS. You need ALOT !

Alright! Cool! Thanks for the quick response! This tank would be an upgrade to my 20 nano right now... need more space for my leather and my 125 has a Porky Puffer so that's not an option...

go with a k 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 ... ones aren't enough

also - If the leather is large, you may run into issues of warfare with the sps. Leather corals can emit a toxin which either inhibits growth or can damage/kill some sps. In some instances, you can avoid this by running carbon or by having the flow from the leather go away from the sps, but I guess that may be tough in a smaller tank.

I had to get rid of a large toadstoool even in a 180 due to this.

Just something to consider.
