Can Longnose Hawk Fish be in the same tank with Peppermint and Cleaner Shrimp?

I am thinking of getting a Longnose Hawk Fish but I do have cleaner shrimps and peppermint shrimps in my tank. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences of have them all live together peacefully. I was told that Hawk fish doesn't really bother corals but it does go after shrimp. Thanks

I think as long as the inverts get there prior to putting the fish in..

I had a 3" long nose and a Hawkfish similar in size hose in a 55 before with 2 blood, 2 cleaner, 4-6 peps and they never bothered them.. but anything else comes in to the tank when they got established is a different matter.

I have a LN hawk and they will feed on peppermint shrimp. Mine were large peppermints and the hawk did fine with them for over a year. But then I saw him snatch up a peppermint in front of my eyes. Was so shocked at first. The fish was well fed and had left the shrimp alone for a year, but I guess it got hungry one day.

So there is always the risk.

Thanks delsol650 and jedininja.
When I add fish to my tank, I always think about the long term effect to the whole community in my tank. And I was afraid of that the LN hawk mights go psycho one day and eat all my shrimps. I did all the research online and just like here, some says ok and some says no way. I've always wanted to add a flame hawkfish or LN hawkfish. They are just too damn cute..sitting there, watching you and following you as you walk around the tank. My friend has a flame hawk but he doesn't have any shrimp. Everytime I visit him, I always mess with the hawk and it is so cool..that is why I want one in my tank.

Nice color but a little bit more on $$$ but if you really want a hawk and don't want it mowing down your larger shrimp

Six-line wrasse just mowed down two of my fire shrimp. They were left alone for two months, but within the course of a week, both were gone, and the wrasse looked very fat. I fear for the cleaner shrimp still in there. Any ideas on how to catch a six-line if I want shrimp in my tank?

Wow ? How big is your 6line ??? and shrimp ?

I've had a 6line that was the first one to be in my tank. Never really bothered any new shrimp that I put in there... just the fairy wrasse that the same size as it... but just swims around my tank all day with out a care for anyother inhabitants...

He did show a little to the white porcelins I had before... but one poke from the porcelins and he didnt bother anymore

I once tried to get a 6-line out of a 20-gallon nano-reef - those were some of the most frustrating weeks of my life. The 6-line eventually won. When I moved the tank and pulled out all the coral and live rock I finally got the fish out.

Have you tried the baited traps or wait till night time awhile after lights turn off, look for him with red lights as he sleeps then net him...

I think they tend to sleep in the same spot at night

Good recommendations. Mine disappeared behind the rocks at night and didn't go for the baited traps. I tried the PVC method (1' of PVC pipes with holes drilled, bait and wait, then lift up), but he would always make it out before I could pull it up.

I still can't believe that a six-line would eat a fire shrimp, let alone two!

Wow ? How big is your 6line ??? and shrimp ?

Including the tail, the six-line is four inches, so he's pretty big. The shrimp were pretty big too - 2.5 to 3 inches long. I think the six-line and similar shrimp hunting species just can't help themselves. Shrimp = tasty treats no matter how much other food you feed them.

I think I'll just keep the main tank shrimpless for now :(

Wow thats a bonzer or a 6line. mine is roughly 2 1/2 right now.. but never took out smaller shrimp than him..
