Can mushroom corals discolor fish?

I have a two year old royal gramma, that lives in a hole in a rock covered with mushrooms. he eats and acts fine , but his body is white as if he is being stung by the mushrooms. I've seen clownfish get all marked up by hoasting in some corals that's why I ask... thanks
