Can nipping do this? Or is this something else?

Okay So all my perifs have been correct 24/7. The only change in my water is my ro water changing from 12 ppm going in to 0 ppm with the new DI filter, and some new flow nothing crazy..... My tank started running chaeto about a month ago and all my yummy algae's have pretty much disappeared and hes decided to go munching on my my sps : ( All my corals look good Except this on near the bottom it is near completely browned out(looks kinda green on the bottom right of pic) and not looking good. My question is can nipping do this?



I've seen him hit it right there a few times but I've never had AEFW before(seen a lot of pictures), I've had redbugs so I can identifiy them. Just wanted some opinions. The coral overall has been going through some weird color changes when my flow and put good RO in, So its kindof all weirded out. Any help your be greatly appreciated.

Not sure on this one. I think the more flow is good unless its blowing directly on the corals? And the better ro with the 0tds is def better for the tank. Maybe somethin to do with the cheato u added?

Cheato is in the sump and is my pod breeding ground. Shouldnt effect anything but make my tank cleaner.....

In my opinion, thats not from a fish nipping.

Check for Bugs, AEFW, Red Bugs Etc. Best way is to make a small batch of coral dip and see what comes off your colony, You may be suprised! Most times people that have bugs don't know it, Fact.

K i'll run a coral Rx dip and see what comes off. Post what I see in about 15 minutes...

K dipped the corals. You can see more clearly what is going on outside of the water. Heres some pics.





The backside doesn't get any light so I expect no color there. As far the dipping process I turkey bastered the whole things. All I can see with my eye is dirt particles floating and nothing on the coral itself while I hit it with flow..... I havn't checked my Perifs in about a week (its my day to run tests) but I've always been solid and Everything else looks great so just assumed they are in order. So thats where my only thought was the nipping.... So far I have nothing.... : (

I've never had all of my corals doing great at the same time. The coral looks unhappy and if nothing came off. I would chop it up and start over. The back side is green, which is not a lack of light, but its dead coral.

Its really hard to tell, but in the bottom picture, near where the two colors contrast, there are dark brown spots on the whiter part. Can you scrape those off? Are they small round clusters?

BTW, what fish is nipping?

+1 on that, in my limited experience those look like AEFW egg clutches.

Looks like eggs to me as well. Scrape the eggs off and redip....

Yeah I've found another coral with bite marks and I pulled it out. Assuming they were only on the two corals I still think it would be best to dip and pull all eggs ff and then quarantine and re dip possibly later and do this a few times before ever reintroducing to the main tank. Only thing I fear is most likely it is on more acro's and still no solid cures for these guys. And so it starts.

Does the levamisole kill aefw too? It works awesome for regular fw's

Also heard it works well on planaria. But Levamisole has been used for years and I think if it were successful enough to rid of AEFW we would know by now. I know coral rx is a strong killer for the AEFW but also if dipped wrong can hurt corals. Obviously the eggs are a problem also So either rid of skeleton where they can lay eggs or get every last egg off by razor with your eyes(which is near impossible) and if you miss one then your future biweekly dipps are pointless because they will be laying eggs between your dipps : (
