Can not connect to AC3

I have an new AC3 that I am trying to connect to, but I am not having any success. This unit is replacing my AC Jr that I does connect to via a serial cable. However I can not seem to establish a connection with the serial cable and the AC3. I am wanting the ethernet cable to be the primary means of communication between my computer and the unit. I have set the Gateway address, Primary and Secondary DNS address yet still no connection. When I ping the IP address from a command prompt I get connection timed out.

I am at my whits end and counsel will be greatly appreciated.

Are you using a crossover cable between the PC and the AC or are you coming in via switch? If you have an internet router, does it have DHCP and are you using it?

You do not need a GW or DNS since it is internal, so I would not bother with it. Just assign an IP in the same subnet ( 192.168.1.0/24 for example) and it should come in fine.

Let me know if you need some help, have the same unit.

I am connecting them with the cable that came with the AC3. Says patch cable on the side of the cable.

AC3:
IP-192.168.1.50
GW-192.168.0.1
MASK-255.255.255.0

PC:
IP- 192.168.0.11
GW-192.168.0.1
MASK-255.255.255.0

You can't connect them together using a cable that says patch.
You need one that says "x over" or "cross over".
Or you nned a ethernet switch.

If you want to swing by and I can custom make you a cable to any lenght you want.

funman1's right. Your IP's on the two devices are on different subnets. Change the AC3 to 192.168.0.50.

Also the patch cable won't work for direct connections. You can either use a crossover cable, use a hub or switch in between or your broadband router.

OK I can ping the unit now, but AquaNotes does not see it. I may uninstall AquaNotes I have changed sevral defalts in the set up.

Steve,

Thanks for the cable.
