Can Phosphate levels be too low for Coral growth?

You have around 340g, so I'd say your fish load is 'medium light'. Adding the additional fish should help a bit.

You might think it's kind of funny, but I have 10g of actual water to work with (luckily, the basic principles at work are the same no matter what the scale).

Yea I was thinking the same thing about adding the extra fish helping out.

10 gallon sounds like less work haha

Less work for a WC, but more work to keep params stable. Also, you won't run out of space for corals any time soon, but I have to manipulate the params to slow growth or else I'd be pruning constantly. Pro and cons, either way.

Good luck!

I hear you.

I seem to make it more work than needs be. But that is the way of this hobby lol..

Thanks!

Lol that is were I get a little confused. My system is pretty big. I have a 265 gallon a 75 gallon and a sump. I have a a pretty good amount of fish too.

6 larger tangs
2 wrasse
2 little Bartlett
3 chromis
Watchman goby
Blue spotted jaw fish
In the 265

4 clown fish
1 kole tang
In the 75

Overall I guess not that many for the size. I got about 12 fish coming this week not including the male blue jaw I just got. :D

I been dosing some zeo products which I would have figured would have helped.

Zeobac
AA
Coral vitalizer
Coral snow
This week I started coral booster and flatworm stop, which I have read people using with out AEFW. Also the past couple weeks I have been dosing potassium from Brightwell.

I use gac which I have been replacing biweekly. Large skimmer reef octopus 5000 with 3 next extension. Also have biopellets but only about 200ml.

Hi,

In yr situation I would use Pohls Xtra from KZ, it gives color and life back to yr corals - they are starving.

Good luck

Peder

Which is funny you said that I almost ordered it from bulk reef supply 2 weeks ago with the coral booster and the flatworm stop... I will have to order it. Would you say to spot feed them too?

Hi again,

Only yr lps needs spotfeeding, sps dont need. And I have never spotfeeded any corals in my system. I dont beleive in snakeoil, but when yr system is low on nutriens Pols Xtra makes a BIG difference. I tried once were my beatifull reef became pale - this turned arround. That time I also used vodka(for the tank) that has stopped now(for the tank....)

I have a huge skimmer, and I do weekly 10% waterchanges.
Furthermore I use Dr. Timms wasteaway once a month and now and then Zeobac

My Po4 leves can not be measured, and my No3 is always between 0,2-0,5.

I use to love Carbondosing, because N was never a problem - and for long time everything was "perfect" but then color loss and STN began.... I have not had this problem since I removed Carbon(vodka) and I started with Pohls Xtra.

Color and growtrate on my sps are really nice again :spin3:

Do you use any gfo or any other zeo products?

Once pr week I dose 10 ML Seaklear into my 250 liter skimmer.

Of KZ product i use earlier mentioned and SpongePower.
I have used AAHC, but stopped again. It did its job, but also gave me brown slime algae - so I only dose that when my Goniopora look hungry - about 1 times each month.:deadhorse1:

I hope this helps u

Is pohls xtra good for a tank starving of nutrients with pale colors and STN? I've read Pohls xtra lightens color in sps, strips zooxanthellae and Pohls xtra special darkens the corals tissue.

I think u mix up Pohls Xtra with kz stylo-pociglow or kz Zeospur 2!
using them makes color pale, by killing Zooxanthelles , in my term its a poison.

Pohls Xtra is really good when u are too low on Nutriens:bounce3:, and completely different from the 2 above mentioned.

So Pohls xtra on its own will color up pale sps but when mixed with stylo-pocigrow it strips and lightens sps?

Ooops - sorry, english is not my native language.

Just use Pohls Xtra, thats enough.

The two others are stuff I personally NOT recommend

Hope its clear now ?

Yup that clears it up. I was a little confused too.

So just to clear up something for me. After you stopped vodka dosing you are still dosing Xtra into your system, at full strength?

Seaklear is reefsafe. I actually learned about it here on RC, think the thread was started by Gary and called Lanthanum dosing.... Very good, andinformative.

Many people in Denmark use Seaklear because of him.

I myself only have lost one fish to this, and it was a Hugo.....:fun2:
