Can pinch kill a 3-4" deresa clam? I have had one look like it has recovered but its not back to its former glory.... When it recovered I decided to add another with a different patterning, 2 weeks on and its got the pinch too :( Looks a lot better today so I am hoping it will too recover. I refuse to do a FW dip so if it lives great... what are peoples experience out there of pinch was it fatal? Is that part of it that they look like they are getting better but still slowly die?

Your experiences appreciated...

Cheers

i did a freshwater dip with mine it seemed to work for alittle while but it slowly came back if you do the fresh dip do not go longer than 45 min

try better lit areas. look carefully for snails on the clam. but chances are... there's something eating it from the inside. you shouldn't rule out the dip altogether... $.02

I had one that was pinching. I moved it up closer to the lights ( 2-250w 10K) and it returened back to normal. that was about 4 months ago.

Hope that helps a little

Can deresa clams be put on the rock work? They dont have much bisal when young and none when older, I though they were meant to go on the sand bed. They have 3 x 250w MH above them, much more light than from where I buy them at the LFS and they look really heathy there...

Yes, derasa clams can go on the rock work. That is where they are in the wild until they get really big and are able to anchor themselves on the sand from the currents.
