Can shorten the frogspawn branch?

I have a 6 inch long branch of frogspawn with 5 heads coming out.
It's almost tall enough to exit the top of the water...is it ok to break off a piece from the bottom of the branch that's like 1-2" or saw it?

You can, just don't cut to close to a fleshy part.
