It's a crab about 1/2" in size. Is he good or bad for a Deep Sand Bed?
Here's a picture of the little guy:

He's about 1/2" in size. Not sure how big he'll get?

He's in the bottom left corner of the tank

This crab doesn't walk on the sand. Rather he sort of walks through the sand, most of the time you can only see the top of his head, as he bulldozes a trail around the tank.

Looks like it may be a species of stone crab. You definitely don't want that in your tank.

Looks like some sort of stone crab. Where did he come from?

Yeah I know it's a stone crab. it came from the rocks that we got from the beach.
But I never saw one that burries himself in the sand and moves around. I think I have several in my tank.

What is the issues that can arise from having a stone crab? What type of problems can I expect if I keep him?

They'll eat your snails and hermits then as they get larger, they'll catch and eat sleeping fish.

Actually, during stone crab season in FL, you only rip off one claw, then throw the crab back in alive. They'll regrow it for the next season.

What you really need to worry about here is that when these guys get big, they have the potential to break aquarium glass. I mean, they have to be pretty massive, but I've seen stone crab claws as big as my fist, so I know it happens :)
