Can someone post a basic equipment list for a 120-150 tank setup please.

Looking for a basic list of what I will need in total for a 120-150 reef setup assuming its a drilled RR tank.

Give me what you think of as specs needed and I can do the rest but so many people post different specs I am a bit confused on what you need in total and all that.

Thanks. If you want post your views as well as to why you think this is the basic list. Also what additions would be useful. etc.

What are you planning on keeping? The list will be a little bit different for different setups. For example, an SPS dominated tank will be different than an aggressive FOWLR. For sure you'll need:

Tank/Stand
Lighting
Rock
Sand
Test Kits
Refractometer
Heater(s)
Powerheads
Skimmer
Salt
RO/DI unit for water possibly
and you may want to look into dosing and auto top off equipment.

Dought ya will need heaters, Ive never needed to have one as all your equiptment give off a certian amount of heat...

Ohh and go and get a IV dripper thingy, there awsome for acclimenting things like corals and livestock and get a air thingy that splits 1 tube into as many as ya want incase ya buy many fishies or corals ya can accliment them at the same time, I got mine from the emergancy room when my wife blew her knee out the best thing that came outta that

id say add a chiller in there,but thats me i hate a hot tank.

Ohh MAN he said chiller,

,,,,just throw a zillion fans in there and ya should be ok, even with my 1200 watts of MHs I didnt need a chiller just some quiet fans to blow across the sump and top of tank

the zillion fans probably cost more to run than a chiller :eek1: jk yeah i know fans work fine,like i said its me.im gonna run a chiller on my 90 but its just a 1/10hp.probably last me 6 months tops

What about sump and fuge? I have a bc29 now with a mixed reef going on I guess you could say. I am interested in a mixed reef in the big tank as well.

How does the flow go on the 150ish tanks? tank, overflow, sump/fuge/skimmer, tank again?

Are there any good I-2-3 sites that show examples and etc on the different setups available? Or is it hit or miss on how you do it?

It's only hit and no miss if you study before you buy.

I'm going to be checking all of this out too...Someone is building me a 180 tank (just the tank - glass) and I need to start researching it. I need to tell him where to drill those holes!
