Can someone tell me the diff between the 6100 and 6101?

I have 2 streams in my tank. One is about 8 months old and one is about 2 months old. When I open them up one has a bell (ish) shaped magent and one has a straight magnet. WHat's up with this? Are these 2 different model 6100's?

Could someone fill me in on the difference between the 6101 and the 6100?

The electronics are different, 6100 had a seperate driver and a torroidal coil power supply. 6101 has an electronic power supply like a laptop computer uses and the driver is now built into the pump. They essentially work the same and look the same but the electronics are different.

What you describe sounds like just the evolution of the drive unit though, both should be 6100 as the 6101 has only been available for about 3 weeks. The drive units are constantly being upgraded like most products we make to improve noise and wear.

No, they are always interchangeable. The first 6100.70 type drive units had a shoulder, we switched to a tapered design, not so much for the 6100 and 6200 but as part of the further development for another pump model. The taper eliminated a noise problem we were having in another application.

Sorry Roger, to keep you, but does this mean I can change out the tapered (or bell shaped) magnet out with the latest and greatest and it will work fine?

Tapered is the newest version but yes, if we change again the new one will work to, you can install the tapered 6100.70 in a 6100 made in 2002 and it will work just fine.
