Can someone tell me what is up with my GBTA?

I've had this GBTA for a few years now and it's split a few times. However, last month it's been looking a bit strange with his mouth getting puffy. Can someone let me know if this is an issue or what I can do to remedy it? It eats and my tanks params are ok. Thanks.

not usually a good sign, what and how often are you feeding them?

I feed pieces of silversides and mysis about twice a week.

i have seen the mouth pucker up when they are hungry, even expose a bit but they look to be trying to turn inside out, do they still look the same and have you tried to feed them??

can you list your params??

I've seen the pucker too but not this extreme. They still look the same and aren't getting worse but they aren't going back to normal either. My parameters are in line and I have a few SPS and lps that are excelling. My skimmer is working fine, temp is controlled and I do weekly water changes.

If they do take a turn for the worse I will remove them but i've had the nem and its offspring for almost 2 years now and my two false percs love them. I'd hate to have to remove them.

A distended mouth is bad. I had a BTA a couple years and it happened to me. No known cause as far as I could tell with test kits and food. And lotsa research. Mine didn't split. It got very big tho until it got a dissented mouth. Then over the next half year slowly withered away.

NOT to say that is the case here. But I was feeding it Mussels and shrimp. From the local seafood counter. This time I am feeding only Omega Silversides. But haven't had them long enough to comment.

Took a couple years before I had a problem. May have been 1 bad piece of food. Maybe I should have let the light do it. And fed infrequently. But is just speculation on my part.

I tend to believe my Clown did it from abuse tho. She seems to be trying to kill a 2 pound LTA right now.

No scientific facts here tho. :(
