I just noticed this on a Zoa rock that I have had in my tank for just over 3 months. i don't remember seeing it initially, but could have been overlooked. I also noticed that I have a small crab in the Zoas, but couldn't get a picture of him. Could the 2 be related? Did the crab come out of one of those holes?
Can someone tell me what this is?

I was talking about the white stuff. When I touched it with forceps, it did feel a little spongy, but I didn't know if it was some kind of sac for baby creatures or something, with the holes and all. Any idea what type of crab it is likely to be and/or if I should just remove it?
I'm guessing since it's been there for over 3 months, the sponge is probably not a big deal, or should it be removed? Not all that great to look at really.

As long as the sponge is growing it should be good. They filter the water also.
