Can the Apex control this ?

Was wondering if the apex can control the AI LED's, dimming capability ? What about the new that will come out and can be controlled wirelessly ?

Also, can the apex control the Finnex Titanium 500w heater ? On bulk reef, it says it needs the specific controller .

And can the Apex control rapidleds , if you get the dimmable driver ? or do you still have to buy the module from Neptune ?

If it can , can you adjust the colors by clicking, or do you have to punch in numbers like, 30% white, 70% blue ?

Yes neptune sells a cable that specifically is made to interface with the current AI lights. As far as the new one's, one can only speculate. Depends upon what type of interface they have.

Regarding a heater, as long as you plug it into a controlled outlet, you can program the outlet to switch on and off based on the reading of an Apex temp probe.

Yes it can control drivers that are dimmable via 0-10v control. You control the color/brightness by programming profiles that perform ramping up and down over certain intervals at preset times. It is not a manual click, click, click thing.

There is TONS of great info out there about this.

As has been said, the Apex can control AI wired lights using the VDM module and cable.

AI has told me only their (AI's)wireless controller will control the wireless versions.

Caution re the RapidLED kits. I'll detail later. Running into a meeting now.

I have the RapidLED lights on my to-order list (waiting for next credit card billing cycle....). So there's someone (i.e. me) out there interested in this.

I'm interested to see what RussM has to say but the VS port is well suited to control several T5 and LED drivers including the Mean Well ELN-60-48D dimmable driver. I just started building a small kit from RapidLED with one. There have been reports here about high voltage from the VS port and some other problems so it's wise to test the port.

Repeating what has already been said just to be sure it's clear, to control an AI light with an Apex you need the VDM module. You can't do it with a VS port.

Sorry to keep you guys waiting - I'm working at a client site.

Not all RapidLED dimmable LED kits are compatible with the Apex. RapidLED is one of the few online vendors that offers multiple types of dimming control options with (some of) their kits.

There are 2 types of commonly-used dimmable drivers... one type uses a technology called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), the other uses 0-10vdc analog control. The Apex does *not* work with PWM drivers.

Some of RapidLED's kit only come with a PWM driver. Other RapidLED kits do have the option to be ordered with your choice of PWM or 0-10v; these will be the ones that list the Meanwell ELN-60-48P or -48D driver options; for compatibility with the Apex, the driver model must the "D" suffix.

Other kits, which use the Meanwell HLG-series, are user-configurable as either PWM or 0-10V.

So, in a nutshell, just be careful what you order - if you are at all unsure, email them and clearly state that you want to interface the kit with an Apex.

I was told the same thing by AI that the new "blackbox" wireless modules on the new one, or added to the Sol will only work with their controller. They specifically told me there will be no current way to hook it up to a 3rd party controller.

the eln60-48P are pulse width and 0-10V i have an apex controlling 10 of them.
but no if the driver is only pwm then it will not control them but 0-10V yes

Thanks Russ. You mentioned that right before I waisted 430 bucks haha . I will be sure to the one with "D" suffix !!
