Can TUNZE Coral Gum Raise Alkalinity?

My alkalinity has been stable ever the last 2 months around 8.0-8.3 dKH. I had a spike in alkalinity from 8.3 to 9.3 dKH within the last week. I have not changed anything in my dosing or in the tank EXCEPT I just mounted several frags using TUNZE Coral Gum before testing.

I tested it again after two days and it was back down to 8.3 dKH.

Here are my other parameters:

Tank = 65 Gal
Salinity = 1.025
Ph = 7.7
Ca= 400-410
Mg = 1140-1170
Nitrate = 0
Phosphate = 0

Is it possible that the TUNZE caused the test results?

I highly doubt they would market a product that does that. I think more likely you annoyed some corals when placing the new ones, or some oils from your arm or something, and they stopped growing for a couple days.

I myself think it was probably not that, but was wondering. The corals were not new to the tank - just being mounted in the spot they liked. Some of the putty did get diluted-dissolved when I was spreading it. Next time I use it, I will check again.

Does it work better than the home depot epoxy putty? I am having trouble getting some of it to stick to the live rock. Might have to try some of this.

Crawlerman, somebody else will have to answer this one. I no longer live in the US and they don't have home depot here in Prague. So TUNZE it is for now.
