Can we not just leave well enough alone???

What is it about this hobby that for some reason I am "constatntly "changing something".

My tank is doing good, I am getting good growth and feel good overall about teh set up.

But I keep changing "stuff" rearranging plumbing, changing pumps, playing with the skimmer, trimming and rearranging corals etc... etc....

Is it just me or is it some kind of an addition.. I have never had an addictive bent in me (except for hunting, fishing and sex) and those are things you just can not live without.

I spent three hours today moving some plumbing aroung to move two outlets about 2 inches each. That just crazy!!!

Anyone else out there have this problem??

Well, maybe not quite to that extent, but yes I definitely have that addiction. I'm always changing/adding something mostly because I like playing with it, not because I think I can make it any better.

So MrRyanT you like "playing with it" also. I think that is just the nature of this beast. If it wasn't addictive we wouldn't keep dumping piles of money into this.

Maybe your OCD-ness just can't leave it alone!

Or is it that:

This is a natural part of your addiction. I have gone through it and can tell you to rest assured, it will subside in a year or two. Basically what did it for me was when I realized I had "fixed" something 5 times. Changing it from its origional configuration to another, then months later having a "fantastic Idea" and changing it back to its origional configuration.
So to sum up: Yes, its normal. No, its NOT normal in general. And you'll get through it.
Love, peace, and chicken grease,

part of what I like about this hobby is the 'tinkering'. I like to try different things just for the heck of it. Probably not bet for optimal coral growth, but I like it. :D

I would think I was past that at least to some extent. I need to leave well enough alone.

It is not like I lack for something to do. Oh well!!

I use the "if it aint broke dont fix it and sometimes if its broke aw fudge it!! Get a new one, but I like the KISS method the best!

would it make a difference if momma said "you'll go blind if you don't quit playin' with it"?

Not really. When someone says not to do something, it just makes some people want to do it more.
