Can you eliminate it or not?

After hours of pouring over info on ich. I have read many arguments from professionals etc.etc. but my question is:

Can Ich be eliminated from a tank ENTIRELY if there is no fish for longer than 40 days?

a uv filter or continue to treat for the problem. Then don't introduce any more fish of like 1 month. I don't qt any fish in my tank just temp adjust and add to tank. But I do run uv so I haven't had an outbreak of ich.

its not in-line with the return. I have it attached to a pump the sends water through the uv filter and then into my skimmer. Hope you understood that. Its good for algae and dieases.

yes, but to keep it that way you'll want to be cautious when adding anything new, meaning QT

Yeah I made an amateur decision to add a fish to my tank that had ich. I have seen them added and then the ich going away but I have been reading that it doesnt go away it goes into the substrate and then starts to get stronger until Boom.. another attack. So my question is now. Since I dont have a UV if I remove these fish will the tank and the substrate clear itself of the problem or is my whole system doomed?

If you allow your tank to go fallow for 6-8 weeks the parasite won't have a host and should die off.

I go with six to eight weeks depending on temperature.

Don't forget that all the fish have to be treated against ich at the same time, full six to eight weeks.

Thank you guys for the input, one of the fish ended up dying. The other is holding on. I am thinking about taking him out and QT'ing him (which I should have done to begin with) When I QT this fish should I put him in low salinity and add garlic and thats it? What do you recommend?
