Can you frag a GBTA

My green bubble tip anemone is huge. I thought i read somewhere that you can actually split your GBTA by cutting them in half. If this is true can someone please explain the whole process so that i may be able to do it.

after how long? I feed mine silversides every-other day. BTW the 'nem is about 7 inches across opened

Check for the thread on the H. mag. Someone cut theirs and fragged it. You can do it and it would probably be much easier with a GBTA than a mag.

Also I have noticed that it seems the RBTA split like crazy while the green ones don't split as often. I would suggest you try and cut it.

A large blade would be best, but the person who cut the mag used scissors, which tear a lot more tissue than necessary, but where the only thing large enough they had to cut theirs.

Hope this helps, good luck. I would try and document the process for the better or worse.

Yep, blade right down the middle. It's as simple as that. Use the sharpest blade you can find and it will cause less trauma. Anemones reproduce by pedal laceration and this seems really brutal, but it works. The anemone will recover if you keep your tank in good condition. I've done this with BTAs but still haven't had the guts to do it on one of my H. mags. If you're chicken, sometimes you can force a split if the foot is sitting on two different rocks by spacing the rocks a little bit. Good luck.

That's not "huge." They can easily get to 14" across.
