Can you have too many copepods?

My tank has been up about a month, and the copepod population has gotten out of hand. These things are everywhere. They are all over the glass, the back of the tank, the rock, everywhere. I know they aren't a pest, but there are so many they kind of distract you from seeing anything else in the tank.

Anyone else have this problem?

My only livestock is 1 small damselfish, 8 hermits, 5 nass snails, and a few soft corals. (12 Gallon Nano Tank)

Think of them as an indicator that you are doing something right in the startup of your tank.

Sounds like things are going well. Most pods are cannibalistic to some extent, so they will regulate there own populations to a point.

I'll probably just let nature take it's course. One fish seems plenty in my 12G nano. Thanks for the tips.

I wouldn't get a mandarin. Too small of a system and not mature enough, as well. Yup-just let nature take it's course.
