I move some GSP from one tank to another yesterday. I noticed this on the bottom of the rock. What ever this is has not seen light at least 4 month. Is it not sensative to light doesn't react to shadow over it will retract when touched. There are 2 of them in this picture. The smaller one is open while the other is retracted. Any help you could give me IDing this would be wonderful.

My guess is a green hairy mushroom retracted. I've had some that live under rocks for many many months.

Mark it looks like it could be some type of Corynactis species or Pseudocorynactis. These guys are technically a corallimorph like a mushroom, even though they are closer to a mushroom/anemone hybrid. Most are azoxanthellate meaning they do not need light to survive, hence the cryptic nature of your two.

Just my guess though.

I agree that a pic of it open would aid in the identification!
Cheers~!
