Can you help me place this coral in may tank

Hi,
I picked up this Monti Cap a few weeks ago.
the first picture is how it was placed in the frag tank that I purchased it from.

I am thinking that it has probably been sitting in the frag tank since it was a small frag in this position. ( I could be wrong as the tank I purchased it from was not the grow out tank)

From pictures I have seen of caps they are usually mounted horizontal.
Should I keep it vertical and see what happens ? Or should I turn it on its side like the picture below ?

If I turn it on its side will the parts of the coral that were getting hit from the light in it's original position start to fade ?

What would you do with this one ?

Thanks,
Cam

If your 250"s are like 8-10 inches from the water and that monti is at the bottom like you have it, I'd be willing to bet it will do better horizontally rather than vertical

You can mount it vertical and it will do what it likes to do depending on your lighting and flow. Some capricornis do grow vetically looking like cups while most grow horizontally. I would mount it vertically and see what it does. This will also prevent sand from settling on top. JMO

Id mount it however is most pleasing to your eye. After that, they grow so quickly its gonna basically do what it wants either way you mount it.

i mounted mine with super glue gel, just make sure to hold it in place for a bit to allow the glue to harden a bit. and extra glue sticking out will be coverd in coral in no time, provided that you keep the right params( which from my xp was very forgiving)
