Can you help me save my GBTA?

I figured it was just a done deal. I've had him about 8/10 months but he has slowly shrunk and gone into a crevice. it has refused any hand feeding for about the last 3 months. I was using tap water and am now using rodi and have been adding a teaspoonful of kent's iodine supplement weekly. It ate some crushed scallop today!!!! I am so excited....any input on additional measures that may nurse him back to health would be greatly appreciated!!!! i

Well whats the params(with #s)lighting(with watts)how big is the tank? And what could be bothering the anemone?

Hey...thanks for asking. 55 gallon @ a year and a half old. I had been using well water up until 3 weeks ago and live on farmed land. No ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, ph has been at about 8.0, calcium is in line. I have a false perc that has just always worn the anemone out. It is relentless in its wallering and does not feed it. I've got t5 lioghting. Water turnover with pumps and powerheads is about 25 x volume. Hope some of this info will help!

OKay you have t5s so whats the watts? Also ya might try to remove the clown till the anemone has good health again!

For the most part...the clown has given up on the anemone and is hosting in a toadstool. The bta is in a crevice. Should I slowly adjust the rock to get him a little more light or work iit out on his own? Will the iodine supplementing help? TIA...truly!!!

IMO, you're trying to do too much. Stop adding iodine. That stuff can be very concentrated and you've probably got way too much in there now. Do you have a test kit for it?

I've had a GBTA for 4 years and 3 months. I've also used 4 T-5 bulbs the whole time. It has split twice. I can't remember the last time I fed it. It's just not needed. Once in a while a scrap falls into it or it will catch an amphipod, or one of my maroons will feed it. But I don't do anything special. Feeding them just makes them grow super fast which I don't want anymore because of space constraints.

In other words, I think you'd be best off just leaving it be. If there's something wrong with it, there's nothing you can do. Sometimes they will shrink up and move, but it shouldn't last longer than a day or so. If there's nothing wrong with it, it will survive on it's own.

IME, well water is not good. It's good that you have switched to RO/DI because it will eliminate a possible source of a problem.

What about temperature? Mine never drops below 79 and occasionally creeps up to 80. In the summer on rare occasions, it gets up to 84. It has never affected anything negatively though. Keep an eye on that if you're running out of stuff to rule out.

What are you checking SG with?

Thanks for your response vess. My clarkii had always fed it in the past and I thought that was a good thing. The iodine I was adding has been sparse and I have corals in there also. maybe the fact that he ate yesterday is a good response to the change to ro/di water. I'll lay off and give it some to to see how he does.
